My Story
I dropped out of school to join a friend's startup company and we "cowboyed" ourselves a product people were willing to pay for and achieved Series A funding. The people I worked with were the kindest and most passionate people I've ever met, and together we built one of the best products in our market. At the time the chaos sucked, but looking back, it was one of the best experiences of my life.
After that I joined BILL to work with some structure and learn how a bigger and more mature company operates. It was there I also met some pretty great people and worked on some pretty fun projects. One of my fondest memories there were the late night gaming LAN parties where people would bring in their gaming computers and play video games in the office after a late night fail over drill.
Out side of tech stuff, I was born and raised in the Bay Area in an immigrant family that escaped from Vietnam by boat after the war. I'm a big fan of public transit and walkable cities. In my free time I'm an advocate for Transit Oriented Development.
I'm also a fan of motor sports, specifically Rally Racing and more specifically the era where Colin Mcrae (RIP) and Travis Pastrana raced Subarus between the mid 90's - mid 2000's. That era of the WRC is why I own a 2004 WRX. I also liked Group B, the sound of the Audi Quattro S1 is amazing and the Lancia 037 win was a great underdog story.
I also enjoy cooking, sporting clays, aquaponics, and video/tabletop games.
Where did the name Levantine come from?
A long time ago I played a game called Valkyrie Profile and at certain point in the game, the main character finds the Demon Sword "Levantine". I thought the name was cool at the time, so I adopted the name
for my online persona and I've been using it ever since. That's it, that's the story.
